Even in this day and age there is still no magic cure for the common cold. Go to bed, take plenty of fluids and if you have a headache or are feverish take aspirin. Do not give aspirin to children under 16 years. Do not take any antibiotics you may have in the house, these will have no effect. Nasal catarrh can be relieved by doing regular steam inhalations. Despite these measures, however, the symptoms may take at least seven days to clear.
