Common and Minor Ailments - Nosebleeds

Nosebleeds are very common, they often occur when you are least expecting it and for what appears to be no apparent reason.

To control a nosebleed:

Sit in a chair leaning forward with your mouth open, pinch the nose between thumb and forefinger gently for five to ten minutes below the nasal bone by which time the bleeding should have stopped.

Avoid hot food or drinks for 24 hours.

Persistent bleeding or a clot of blood down the throat may need further medical intervention.

If heavy bleeding continues for more than 20 minutes you go to the nearest hospital with A & E
